What is a Traineeship?
The Traineeship is a unique programme that combines education and training. The programme equips students with qualifications and work experience to enable them to be work ready.
The Traineeship at Orchard Hill College is for students aged 19-25 who want to develop work-ready skills and gain accredited qualifications.
It’s an opportunity learn in a practical way developing basic skills, transferable work skills and learn specific skills related to vocational areas by undertaking a work placement.
Who can apply?
The course is open to anyone who is looking to gain qualifications, workplace and interview skills, and work experience. We work towards Entry Level 1 to Level 2 qualifications.
You can apply with or without an EHCP.
What work can I do?
Everyone is different, and everyone has different goals.
We will work with you to find out what you enjoy and where you would like to work so you can gain experience in your chosen area.
Work placements can be found in many areas including:
- Retail
- Motor mechanics
- Hairdressing
- Construction
- Child and adult care
- Administration
- Hospitality and catering
- Gardening
- Animal care
- …and more
Do I need any qualifications to apply?
You don’t need any previous qualifications to apply for a course with us.
You will have the opportunity to work towards:

- E3-L1 Personal Development
- L2 – Work Preparation
- E3-L2 Maths and English
